“ROOMS NOBODY SITS IN”
This specific story was presented to me several times during my first visits in Dubai; in their homes, as well as in the carpenter’s workshop. It triggered my surreal fantasy to function as a signature motive.
These spaces will seat and accommodate just air….
Villa 515 is set up to be a perfume shop, a salon/study for perfume consultation and presentation, and a laboratory for perfume/fragrance creation. The founders behind the shop are an Italian perfumer and a local entrepreneur: Two men that couldn’t have been more different between them, which is expressed also through their products.
At the same time the two also share an absolute passion for fragrances, fully reflected by the one so deeply rooted in Middle Eastern culture. I am the third musketeer, a Dutch designer involved to ‘make sense’ and give shape to this place. We equally bring our spirit into the villa, symbolically forming a ‘ménage-a-trois’.
RAW MATERIALS:
Raw materials are the essence of fragrance creation as well as my approach to design the shop: All three of us are using raw materials to transform them into something new, it’s here our spirits meet.
